Why pick a 6 column cast iron radiator?

Think about what 6 columns does that 4 can't. More pipes per section. More surface area per section. More heat into the room for the same height and section count. In a large period room with high ceilings, single-glazed sash windows and thick stone walls, a 6 column radiator is what those spaces were built for. And with cast iron's thermal mass doing the heavy lifting, that heat keeps coming long after the boiler stops.

Are 6 column cast iron radiators good for large rooms?

6 column cast iron radiators are excellent for large rooms. The 6 column depth gives the highest heat output per section in the Paladin range. Paired with cast iron's thermal mass, which holds warmth long after the boiler stops, they suit big spaces that standard 2 or 3 column models can't adequately heat.
Are column radiators better than panel radiators?

Yes, column radiators are better in key respects. They hold heat far longer than panel rads after the boiler stops, look like deliberate design features rather than utilities, and last for decades. The trade-off is slower warm-up time and greater weight. For large rooms needing steady, lasting warmth, column cast iron radiators are the stronger choice.
What heights are 6 column cast iron radiators available in?

The Neo Georgian 6 Column is available in 505mm, 660mm or 960mm heights, each with 3 to 40 sections. The 660mm is the closest match to most 600mm-tall dimension searches. The 960mm is the tallest standard height in the Paladin 6 column range.
Do 6 column cast iron radiators have feet?

Yes, the Neo Georgian 6 Column stands on rounded cast iron feet. This gives a traditional freestanding presence that suits period rooms, barn conversions and any space where the radiator is meant to be seen rather than hidden.
Is a 6 column steel radiator the same as a 6 column cast iron radiator?

No, they are different products. Steel column radiators are lighter, heat up faster and have fixed manufactured dimensions. Cast iron 6 column radiators are heavier, take longer to warm up and hold heat much longer after the boiler stops. Paladin makes cast iron only. If you've been looking at steel 6 column radiators, our Neo Georgian 6 Column is the cast iron equivalent in terms of output and presence.
Are 5 column cast iron radiators available?

Paladin doesn't currently produce a 5 column model. Our range moves from 4 column to 6 column. If you're looking for something between the two in output, call us and we'll help you work out whether a 4 column with more sections or a 6 column with fewer sections better suits your room.
