Gold Cast Iron Radiators

Top picks for gold cast iron radiators

Louis: Paladin's Rococo radiator. Sculpted patterns on every section. In Paladin gold with the Highlight paint effect worked into the detailing, the Louis looks like something that should be in a gilt-framed room in a French château. Available in 560mm or 760mm heights with 3 to 40 sections. One of the most requested gold finishes in the range.

Gatsby: Art Deco character and gold are the same sentence. The Gatsby's clean period lines in solid painted gold give the Jazz Age glamour the design alludes to. Available in 570mm or 740mm heights with 3 to 40 sections, from £61.08 per section. The most obvious choice for an Art Deco gold radiator.

Oxford: Scalloped top. Interwoven foot. French Victorian origins from the late 1800s. In gold with the Antiqued paint effect the Oxford is one of the most striking radiators in the range. Available in 470mm, 570mm or 765mm heights with 3 to 40 sections.

Montpellier: The daisy radiator. Gold with the Antiqued paint effect on the Montpellier's floral pattern gives a different result to any other model: warm, worked, period-correct in a way that suits Art Nouveau and Victorian bathrooms particularly well. Available in 590mm or 790mm heights with 3 to 40 sections, from £56.00 per section.

Neo Georgian 6 Column: Clean column lines with the deepest section depth in the range. In solid Paladin gold the Neo Georgian 6 Column is a substantial, luxurious radiator for large drawing rooms and reception spaces. Available in 505mm, 660mm or 960mm heights with 3 to 40 sections. Even longer sizes are available on request.

Gold radiators by room

Gold bathroom radiators: the bathroom is the room where gold radiators earn most attention. A Paladin gold cast iron radiator alongside unlacquered brass taps and brass fittings gives a cohesive warm-metal scheme that currently sits at the most desirable end of bathroom design. The Montpellier at 590mm or Oxford at 470mm suits most bathroom wall dimensions.

Gold radiators for living rooms and drawing rooms: large ornate models in antiqued gold or solid painted gold suit the scale of a drawing room. The Louis or Oxford at full section count makes a serious statement on a chimney breast wall. Gold reads warm in evening light in a way few other finishes do.

Gold radiators for hallways: first impression, committed choice. A solid gold Churchill or Kensington in a period hallway sets the tone for the whole property. Pairs with gilded mirror frames, brass door furniture and original encaustic tiles.

Gold isn't one thing on cast iron

The reason gold works so well on cast iron is that the material itself takes colour with real depth. The iron's mass carries a solid gold paint colour without ever looking thin. And there are genuinely different golds available here, each suited to a different interior.

Painted gold: our own Paladin gold, part of the metals range, from £9.91 per section. A consistent solid gold colour across every section. Farrow & Ball Babouche No.223, India Yellow No.66 and Sudbury Yellow No.51 give rich painted gold alternatives in the F&B range, available from £18.59 per section.

Antiqued gold: our Hand Finished Antiqued Paint Effect at £18.59 per section, worked over Paladin gold. The hand-working process creates variation across the surface, so no two sections read identically. Suits Rococo, Victorian and Art Deco interiors where a pristine gold would feel wrong but a rich, worked one feels right.

Highlighted gold: our Hand Finished Highlight Paint Effect at £37.54 per section picks out the raised detail on ornate models in a contrasting tone, so carved patterns and cast relief catch the eye rather than disappearing into a flat colour. Especially effective on heavily detailed models like the Louis and Montpellier.

Brass character: Polished Brass valves, wall stays and pipe sleeves alongside a Paladin gold radiator give a gold-brass character to the whole installation.

Are gold radiators fashionable?

Gold has been in and out of interior design trends for decades. Right now it's in. Unlacquered brass, antique gold hardware and warm metallic fixtures across bathrooms and kitchens are mainstream rather than niche. On a cast iron radiator, the depth of the iron means a solid or antiqued gold paint finish carries real weight rather than reading as a flat coat.

Gold valves and accessories

Polished Brass valve sets are available across the full Paladin range. The Belgravia in Polished Brass is £141.58. The Buckingham in Old English Brass is £146.30. Polished Brass pipe sleeve kits are £37.75. Un-Lacquered Brass wall stays are available in the Luxury Wall Stays range at £35.40. A full gold installation (gold radiator, brass valves, brass wall stays, brass pipe sleeves) is achievable across any Paladin model.
